I-80 Fairfield Pursuit Ends In San Francisco Crash
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/BCN) - A man was arrested early Saturday morning after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit on westbound Interstate Highway 80 from Fairfield all the way across the Bay Bridge to San Francisco, a CHP officer said.
The pursuit started shortly after 1:20 a.m. on westbound Highway 80 near the off-ramp to westbound state Highway 12 where a CHP officer tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic, CHP Officer Mike Mines said.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his late 40s, refused to yield and continued driving west on Highway 80. CHP officers pursued the vehicle, which continued west across the Bay Bridge until it crashed on the Fremont Street off-ramp in San Francisco, Mines said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of evading police and driving under the influence, Mines said.
