Hundreds Show Up At Final Presidio Trust Public Meeting On Crissy Field Proposals
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Hundreds of people showed up Monday night for the final public hearing on what to do with a central, eight-acre part of San Francisco's Presidio.
There are three proposals vying to build on the land at Crissy Field. Among the plans is one from Star Wars creator George Lucas to build Lucas Cultural Arts Museum. Backers have said it would bring a new group of visitors to the Presidio as an educational center for art and imagination.
Another updated plan, submitted by the Golden Gate Parks National Conservancy, is to create a Presidio Exchange that would focus on the blend between culture and nature.

Lastly, a Bridge/Sustainability Institute was proposed by the Chora Group and architectural and planning firm WRNS Studio, to build at the current Sports Basement location.
Many who spoke at the meeting said there should be no rush to select a project.
Revised proposals were submitted on January 17th for the Presidio Trust to make their final decision. However, there's no estimate on when that decision will be made.
