Humboldt County Marijuana Package Tracked To NFL Player's Home
CINCINNATI (CBS/AP) -- A package from Northern California containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana was tracked to the home of a Cincinnati Bengals player in suburban northern Kentucky, according to authorities.
Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson and teammate Anthony Collins were at the house on Tuesday when a woman there accepted the package, said California Department of Justice spokeswoman Michelle Gregory. The package had been sent from Eureka in Humboldt County.
Gregory said that Simpson told officers he lived at the home, and he allowed them to do a search. The search turned up six more pounds of marijuana, according to Gregory.
Gregory said no arrests were made and an investigation was continuing.
A Bengals spokesman offered no comment. Calls to Simpson's and Collins' agents went unreturned.
