How to Help Victims of the Camp Fire in Butte County
CHICO (CBS SF) -- The massive Camp Fire has left a path of destruction in its wake through the devastated community of Paradise. There are many ways to help victims of the wildfire, whether it be monetary, material, volunteering or providing shelter.
The American Red Cross is accepting monetary donations by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. You can also click the link below for information on volunteering.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is providing a 3 to 1 match for donations -- up to a total donation of $750,000. Learn more at the organization's fundraising page.
Green Bay Packers star and Chico native Aaron Rodgers is donating one million dollars to help evacuees in Chico and the destroyed community of Paradise to rebuild, and has set up the Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Fund for others to donate.
The Hope Center at 1950 Kitrick Avenue, Suite A in Oroville is taking donations of warm clothes, shoes, socks and coats, primarily for elderly residents. The center's hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Salvation Army has its own hotline number 1-800-SAL-ARMY. If you call, you can designate your donation to Camp Fire aid.
The San Francisco 49ers raised over $100,000 for fire relief through the team's 50/50 raffle held during its Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants with the team matching funds. They are also auctioning off some game-worn jerseys online to raise funds for the North Valley Community Foundation.
United Way of Northern California (UWNC) has established the NorCal Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the Camp Fire. To make a donation, text BUTTEFIRE to 91999 or click the link below.
