San Jose Homeowner Takes Justice Into His Own Hands After Burglar Caught On Surveillance Camera
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A burglar was caught on camera smashing his way into a San Jose home, but the homeowners say police are forcing them to take justice into their own hands.
San Jose police say the couple's case isn't a priority, according to the homeowners, despite surveillance footage of the home showed a crystal clear image of the suspect throwing a rock through a door to Ryan Leiby's home before going on to steal a watch collection.
Leiby, who thought he had done everything right by installing the cameras after a neighbor's home was burglarized, was left feeling violated by the break-in.
"We made the precautions, but they didn't quite work," he said.

Armed with the video, Leiby went to San Jose police. But, police told Leiby the cash-strapped department can't afford to investigate property crimes, even with a clear surveillance image of the suspect.
Fed up and frustrated, Leiby posted the video to YouTube, and sent the videos to neighborhoods like Willow Glen Charm.
"Somebody from Willow Glen Charm said my friend knows who that guy is, and this is where he hangs out," Leiby said.
But, the burglar isn't behind bars just yet.
"They have to find him, so I hope he's watching," Leiby said.
