3 Injured, 4 Arrested Following Home Invasion Robbery, Suspect Crash In Hayward
HAYWARD (KCBS) – Three people were injured and four people were arrested following a home invasion robbery in Hayward late Thursday night.
According to Hayward police, the incident took place around 11 p.m. Thursday at the Plaza Verde Apartments on Berry Avenue. Police said someone walking by the apartments called police to report a confrontation and someone yelling, "Everyone get down on the floor."
"There were some jewelry, computers and some drugs, I'm not exactly sure what kind, taken," Hayward Police Sgt. Tasha DeCosta told KCBS.
DeCosta said the suspects forced another man to take them to the apartment complex, where they got into an apartment unit and pistol-whipped the residents before leaving with the items.
The three victims, two men and a woman, were not seriously injured and did not require hospitalization.
When officers arrived, police saw a vehicle with four people leaving the area. The officers chased the vehicle for a short distance, which crashed near the intersection of Winton Avenue and Myrtle Street, not far from the police station.
All four people inside the vehicle were arrested, and police recovered a shotgun and two handguns as well as a quantity of marijuana at the crash scene.
Police said they are looking for at least one additional suspect.
The incident remained under investigation Friday.
