Cars Racing On I-80 In Pinole Cause Multi-Vehicle Crash
PINOLE (CBS SF) - Two cars allegedly racing on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Pinole caused a multi-car crash Friday morning that left one person with minor injuries, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Around 10:25 a.m., a Pontiac was seen allegedly racing another car on eastbound Highway 80 near the Pinole Valley Road exit when it sideswiped a Scion, CHP Officer John Fransen said.
The other car involved in the alleged race sped off, Fransen said.
A passenger in the Pontiac was taken to a hospital with complaints of pain and no other injuries were reported.
Three right lanes of the highway were blocked because of the crash, but the cars were eventually pushed to the side of the roadway and all lanes were reopened a short time before 11 a.m., according to the CHP.
