Highway 17 Road Repairs Scheduled To Begin Next Week
SANTA CLARA (KCBS)— An $18 million repair project on Highway 17 is set to begin next week, weather permitting. The project includes a three-mile stretch between Summit Road and Lexington Reservoir that will rebuild old drains and make the highway safer, but is expected to last a year and a half.
Some commuters, including one driver identified only as Dresden, said it will be well worth the wait.
"If you're in the right hand lane and a large truck comes by, it will completely engulf your car in water. You cannot see a thing for three or four seconds. You're blinded," she said.

Another commuter named Chris was excited about the advantages of installing new pavement.
"The pavement is atrocious. They keep patching it and the patches actually make it worse," she said.
Caltrans said while the work won't eliminate accidents, it will "certainly make it safer."
Road repairs are scheduled for 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on weekends.
