Highway 101 In Burlingame Reopens Saturday Afternoon After 16-Hour Closure For Downed Power Lines

BURLINGAME (CBS SF) -- U.S. Highway 101 reopened southbound lanes in Burlingame Saturday afternoon following a lengthy closure due to downed power lines from a Friday-night crash.

CHECK CURRENT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

The left three lanes of northbound 101 in Burlingame opened before 4 p.m. The Anza Ave on-ramp and off-ramp from northbound 101 remained closed to allow PG&E to continue with repairs, according to officials.

A large vehicle doing construction work in the area struck a power pole on southbound Highway 101 near the Broadway off-ramp around 9:30 p.m. Friday, knocking high-voltage lines down across both northbound and southbound lanes, according to the CHP.

The crash caused power to flicker in several locations throughout the Bay Area, including at AT&T Park, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said. However, it did not cause any power outages.

Traffic was heavily backed up for hours Friday night and early Saturday.

Crews with PG&E are still working on an electric tower damaged in the crash.

Traffic had been diverted off the highway at Anza Boulevard in the northbound direction and at Millbrae Avenue in the southbound direction.
