High Winds Expected On Bay Area Bridges
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The California Highway Patrol is warning drivers to be extra careful on Sunday as they drive across Bay Area bridges.
The CHP issued a wind advisory early Sunday morning for the Bay Bridge. CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said drivers need to take extra precautions when the winds are up.
"I think we take our driving a little more casually when we're in our routine commute," he said. "If there are gusts of winds, that can catch (drivers) off guard, and they'll either overreact or just allow their vehicle to drift into an adjacent lane."
Van Eckhardt said they will have units patrolling some of the windier spots and the bridge tow service will also be out patrolling the bridges.
