High Surf Advisory Extended For North Bay Coastline
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - That Valentine's Day romantic stroll on the beach may have to wait, as a high-surf advisory has been extended through Tuesday afternoon for North Bay coastlines, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory, which was initially set to expire early Tuesday morning, will now be in effect until 3 p.m.
Swells of between 12 and 14 feet are expected Tuesday, with some possibly cresting at 17 feet, according to weather officials.
The high surf will create dangerous conditions at local beaches, including strong rip currents and sneaker waves.
Powerful waves can lead to beach erosion, weather officials said.
High-surf advisories that were in place earlier Tuesday morning for the San Francisco-Peninsula coast and the Monterey Bay have since been canceled.
