After Saving Boy From Attacking Dog, Hero Cat To Throw Out First Pitch At Baseball Game
BAKERSFIELD (CBS SF) – The Central California cat that drew national media attention for saving a 4-year-old boy from an attacking dog this week is receiving the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a hometown baseball game next week.
According to the Bakersfield Blaze minor league team, Tara the cat will appear with her family at Tuesday night's game against the Lancaster JetHawks.
"Will Tara be able to toss a proper two-whisker fastball? Only time will tell," said a statement from the team.
Tara became an Internet sensation after surveillance cameras captured her saving 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo on Tuesday afternoon. Jeremy was riding his bike in front of his home when a neighborhood dog chomped down on the boy's leg and dragged him across the pavement.
Out of nowhere, Tara ran into the dog and chased it away.
Jeremy was rushed to the hospital and received 10 stitches. The dog was surrendered to animal control and will be euthanized.
Jeremy's parents uploaded the video to YouTube, where it has received more than 17 million views as of Friday afternoon.
