HBO To Film Hemingway Movie in SF
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ HBO plans on producing a new film about Ernest Hemingway in San Francisco.
The film, titled "Hemingway & Gellhorn" stars Clive Owen as Hemingway and Nicole Kidman as war correspondent Martha Gellhorn.
It examines their romance and 5-year marriage during the Spanish Civil War and in Shanghai, Havana and Key West. None of the film is set in San Francisco, but the director says the city's historic buildings and topography make it ideal to shoot some of the scenes.
City officials say HBO plans to hire about 230-local employees and is expected to spend more than $10 million locally.
Shooting is expected to begin in February.
