Hayward Man Killed Unincorporated Walnut Creek; 1 Arrested
WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) - A Hayward man was murdered in unincorporated Walnut Creek on Monday night, and Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies have arrested a suspect in the case, a sheriff's spokesman said Tuesday.
Emergency crews responded to a medical call in the 2300 block of San Miguel Drive at 7:12 p.m. and found the victim, 48-year-old Jeffrey Mead Patterson, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Shannon Mitchell Alexander, also 48, on suspicion of murder, according to the sheriff's office.
The two men knew each other, but detectives have yet to determine a motive for the killing, Lee said.
The murder occurred at Alexander's home on San Miguel Drive, Lee said.
Alexander was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he is being held on $1 million bail.
Anyone with further information about the crime is asked to contact the sheriff's department at (925) 313-2600.
