Hayward Man Arrested In Fatal Jewelry Store Shooting
SAN RAMON (CBS/AP) -- Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a failed San Ramon jewelry store robbery that left another suspect dead after he was shot inside the store.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Krishneel Prasad on Friday near his home in Hayward on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and false imprisonment. He's being held in the Contra Costa County jail on $300,000 bail.
A second suspect, 18-year-old Kibrom Bairu of Hayward was shot and killed during the botched robbery Wednesday inside the Gold N Treasures store in San Ramon.
Police said an armed Bairu, Prasad and two other men were inside the store when either the store's owner or an employee pulled out a gun and shot Bairu.
Bairu later died at a hospital. Police say the shooting was in self-defense.
The two other suspects remain at large.
