Hayward Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested After Officer Shooting
HAYWARD (BCN) - A man was arrested early Friday morning after being shot at by an Alameda County sheriff's deputy responding to a domestic incident in unincorporated Hayward late Thursday night, a sheriff's spokesman said Friday.
Deputies responded shortly before midnight to a report of a domestic incident at an apartment on Mattox Road near Foothill Boulevard, sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
Deputies entered the apartment contacted the suspect, who turned around with what appeared to be a gun in his hand, Nelson said.
The deputy opened fire but apparently missed the suspect, who ran and jumped out of a third-story window in the apartment building, Nelson said.
The man, who has not been named, fled on foot through the neighborhood, but a perimeter was set up and he was eventually arrested about three hours later, Nelson said.
Nelson did not have information Friday morning on the other person involved in the alleged domestic incident.
