Man Arrested On Hate Crime Charge During San Francisco Pride Celebrations
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- San Francisco police have arrested a man accused of committing a hate crime during the city's Pride celebrations.
Officers from the Tenderloin Station were patrolling in the area of Fifth and Market streets just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, when two young women from Southern California told them they had been assaulted.
They told officers the man pushed one of them, before threatening to kill them because of their sexual orientation. He walked away after a bystander stepped in.
A short time later, officers a man who fit the description of the suspect, before taking 50-year-old Emmanuel Morancy into custody.
Police are also looking for another group of suspects, who yelled a homophobic slur while driving by a man on 22nd Street near York just after midnight on Sunday. The 25-year-old victim noticed blood dripping from his hand and believes he may have been shot by some type of pellet or BB gun.
The 25-year-old man described the suspect vehicle as a dark gray sedan occupied by at least two men.
