Hans Zimmer Confirms Batkid Theme Music
(CBS SF/RADIO.COM) - If you're on the Internet today (Nov. 15), there's a good chance you've tuned in to follow the saga of "Batkid," AKA 5-year-old leukemia patient Miles whose dream of becoming Batman has been made into a fantastical reality thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The city of San Francisco has been transformed into "Gotham City," with an army of volunteers and even Major League Baseball team the San Francisco Giants working together to make Miles' wish come true as he whisks around town with Batman catching villains like the Joker and saving damsels in distress to the supportive cheers of thousands of onlookers.
As the Batkid phenomenon grew into such a massive collaborative endeavor, more luminaries have come out wanting to contribute to the project to make the moment as special as possible for Miles, including renowned composer Hans Zimmer, the man responsible for the music behind The Dark Knight movie trilogy who has written a special theme song specifically for Batkid.
"Yes, Hans did write a score for Batkid," confirmed Rae Murillo from his publicity office by phone. "We're not yet sure when or how the music will be incorporated, but I do know that there are different elements and surprises being rolled out as the day progresses, so we're just waiting to see how the music is going to be used."
