Halley's Comet 'Eta Aquarids' Meteor Shower Peaks Overnight, Best Viewing Wednesday Morning Before Dawn
(CBS SF) -- Halley's Comet may be on the other side of the solar system, but debris from its trail collide with Earth every May as the planet passes through its orbit, and the best viewing of the "Eta Aquarids" meteor shower will be just before dawn on Wednesday May 6th, 2015.
SpaceWeather.com reports radar images from a Canadian meteor monitoring team show a lot of activity in the skies, indicating meteors are on the way to Earth.
The moon's light will obscure viewing late Tuesday, but as the moon sets, more meteors might be visible.
Some parts of Earth may get up to 60 meteors per hour, but the Northern Hemisphere is likely to get fewer.
