Gun-Wielding Antioch Resident Chases Home Burglars
ANTIOCH (BCN) - An Antioch man chased two burglars out of his home and down the street with a gun on Wednesday, but the pair managed to escape in the victim's car, police said Thursday.
Police received a call shortly before 10 a.m. reporting that a man was chasing someone down the street in the 200 block of Cambridge Drive while firing a gun, police said.
While officers were on their way to the scene, they learned that the victim had been confronted by two people who had forced their way into his home.
The victim had grabbed his handgun and chased them out of the home, police said.
He continued to chase one of the suspects down the street while the other returned to the victim's house and stole his car, police said.
The second suspect then drove past the victim and slowed down to allow the first suspect to jump in. The pair then fled in the victim's car.
While he was chasing the intruder, the victim fired one round into the ground in an attempt to scare the suspect into stopping, police said. Nobody was hurt and the vehicle was the only loss.
