Gun Shop Robbed In El Cerrito
EL CERRITO (CBS SF) -- Police in El Cerrito released video of a robbery at a gun store that happened overnight Saturday.
The first of two videos shows two suspects trying to break into a window to the shop. The first suspect appears to throw a rock, or object at the window to break it, and then a second suspect can be seen prying at the window.
The second video shows four suspects in hooded sweatshirts jumping a security gate to the shop before fleeing.
The four suspects were thwarted in their attempt to break into Old West Gun Room at 3509 Carlson Blvd., but may have successfully burglarized a gun store in Petaluma afterward, El Cerrito police said.
Officers first responded to the El Cerrito incident at 5:34 a.m. Saturday based on an activation of the store's alarm system. A broken window was found there but the suspects had already fled the scene.
The suspects did not gain entry to the store because of the security measures in place there, police said.
Two hours later, several suspects burglarized a gun store in Petaluma.
Petaluma and El Cerrito police are now working in concert to identify the suspects and believe the cases to be connected.
