Gun, Pot Found On Student Near San Leandro High School Campus
SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) - A juvenile boy was arrested Thursday afternoon in San Leandro after a high school security official found a loaded gun in his backpack, police said.
San Leandro High School campus security was called at 7:41 a.m. to the 13400 block of Bancroft Avenue, where some students were reportedly smoking marijuana at a bus stop near the school.
When security arrived at the stop, one of the students tried to run away and left his backpack, police said.

A campus security official searched the backpack and found a loaded firearm. An official ran after the boy and caught him as he was jumping over a nearby fence, according to police.
San Leandro police officers arrived at the scene shortly afterward and arrested the boy, who was also found with small amount of marijuana. He was taken to juvenile hall after a parent was notified.
