Gov. Brown Pushes For More Electric Cars At San Francisco Event
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Gov. Jerry Brown threw his support behind the proposed expansion of California's electric vehicle market during an appearance at San Francisco's Exploratorium on Monday.
The private event, at Pier 15, was hosted by The California Plug-in Electric Vehicle Collaborative, which is a multi-stakeholder public-private partnership aimed at strengthening and cementing the presence of plug-in and electric vehicles in California. Event attendees also included various California corporate leaders and business executives, as well as manufacturers of various electric vehicles.
Electric Cars on Display at Private Pier 15 Event
Pier 15 was essentially transformed into a futuristic parking lot, with next generation cars from luxury and economy manufacturers on display.
"I can remember, 35 years ago, when solar energy was associated with I don't know, bean sprouts and whatever else alternative people were doing in those days," the governor said. "This is not alternative anymore. You're looking at these BMWs, Cadillacs, Nissan, Tesla, Honda, General Motors. This is impressive."
The governor also praised the companies who were supplying or otherwise participating in the effort to improve the availability of plug-in charging stations throughout the state.
"Washington, look out! We're showing you the way and you just follow," he declared.
