Google Heads To Neighboring Sunnyvale
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KCBS) - Google's Mountain View headquarters is no longer large enough to house all of the company's employees. As a result, the Internet search giant is moving to neighboring Sunnyvale.
The new location will be an expansive 26-acre campus. The 716,000 square foot Technology Corners at Moffett Park is the former home of Ariba Inc.
Sunnyvale Economic Development Manager Connie Verceles said Google's move is good news for the city.
KCBS' Mike Colgan:
"It's exciting to have a company like Google, with the marketing potential when they send press releases and the events they hold in Sunnyvale, it'll be saying it's held in Sunnyvale and Google is part of the business community."
Verceles said Google joins a great roster of high-tech businesses already in the area.
"We already have Juniper Networks, Network Appliance, Bloom Energy, Yahoo and so we'll continue to add to that roster," she said.
"Also next year HP, Microsoft and Motorola Mobility will also be making Sunnyvale their home."
In a written statement, Google said it looks forward to working with the local community as the company continues to grow.
