Good Question: Who Was Saint Valentine?

(CBS 5) – There was a time when Valentine's Day wasn't associated with flowers and candy. In this Good Question: Who was Saint Valentine? And why do we have Valentine's Day?

ANSWER: According to Fr. James McKearney of St. Patrick's Seminary, Saint Valentine met an untimely death at the hands of the Romans in the year 299 A.D. for preaching Chritianity. His love of God even under the threat of death is the origin of Valentine's Day.
