Golden Gate's 75th Anniversary Pavilion Taking Shape
SAUSALITO (KCBS) - Drivers traversing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge may already see the beginnings of the 75th anniversary celebration preparations. The milestone is just 7 months away.
A pavilion will be the centerpiece of the celebration, and it's being built near the statue at the southeast section of the span.
"It's a temporary modular building. The building is temporary in that we're not sure yet if we'll have a museum on site eventually, and where we'll be eventually. So this is just a start to really enhance the visitor experience here at the bridge," explained Golden Gate Bridge District spokeswoman Mary Currie.
KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports:
The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy plans to foot the bill for a majority of the events and expenses. No toll money is being used
