Golden Gate Ferry Workers Strike, Disrupt Service
LARKSPUR (KCBS) – Golden Gate Transit ferry service was halted Saturday after ferry
workers went on strike but will resume Sunday in time for the Golden Gate
Bridge's 75th anniversary celebrations.
Workers set up a picket line at the Golden Gate Ferry Larkspur terminal, disrupting service on Saturday morning.
Boat runs from San Francisco to Larkspur were canceled.
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
Members of the Inlandboatmen's Union, which has the support of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District's 13 other unions, have been without a contract since last July.
This labor action comes on the same weekend as the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th birthday celebrations, with events planned throughout San Francisco this weekend.
Golden Gate Ferry District officials issued assurances late Saturday that service will resume on Sunday. They said there will be additional ferry service to accommodate crowds attending the Golden Gate Bridge festivities.
