Suspect Arrested After Woman Found Dead Inside Gilroy Home On Christmas
GILROY (CBS SF) -- Police have arrested 21-year-old Ernesto Rodriguez, the suspect in the murder of a woman found dead at a Gilroy home on Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to a residence in the 8100 block of Kelton Drive at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a family returned home and found the victim, 21-year-old Alma Roque Ortega, dead in a bedroom, according to police.
The family noticed that their son, Rodriguez, was missing from the home.
Ortega did not live at the home, and police said Rodriguez was barred from contacting her by a restraining order issued in San Benito County in January.
Police began looking for Rodriguez and issued a call for the public's help in finding him, saying he should be considered dangerous and may be armed.
This morning, at about 8:20 a.m., a patrol officer located Rodriguez on Kelton Drive, and he was arrested without incident, police said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Gilroy police Detective Mike Bolton at (408) 846-0335.
The murder is the third in Gilroy this year.
