Giants To Host Reds Saturday In Playoff Opener
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The NL East champion Washington Nationals secured home-field advantage throughout the postseason by beating the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, setting up a match-up between the Central Champion Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants in the National League Championship series beginning Saturday at AT&T Park.
The Western Division Giants will also host game 2 of the best-of-five National League Division Series on Sunday before the matchup shifts to Great American Ballpark.
By winning their regular-season finale, the Nationals clinched top seeding for the NL playoffs and will open on the road Sunday at the winner of Friday's wild-card game between Atlanta and St. Louis. Game 2 will also be at the wild-card winner's stadium, before the series shifts to Washington.
The Giants close out the regular season Wednesday afternoon against the Los Angeles Dodgers after eliminating their rivals from playoff contention Tuesday.
