Giants Snubbed by Obama? Congratulatory Call Comes In Late
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS News / AP) -- The San Francisco Giants' 56-year wait for a World Series title is over, but the team didn't enjoy one of the customary victory spoils Monday night.
President Barack Obama did not call to congratulate the World Series champions, as is customary, after their series-clinching win.
With Democrats poised to suffer losses in the midterm elections, Obama likely had a lot on his mind Monday night. Apparently one of those things was not the Giants.
The White House said Obama finally telephoned those in the baseball organization on Tuesday afternoon and recalled the excitement he felt when his beloved Chicago White Sox broke their World Series drought.

Obama told the Giants he enjoyed watching Monday night's winning game and mentioned that he wanted to find out if there really was magic in the beard of closer Brian Wilson. Wilson has a black lumberjack beard and he's been credited with helping the Giants return to the playoffs after a six-year absence.
The president said he is looking forward to congratulating the Giants in person at the White House. The Giants also invited Obama to a home game.
