Giants Merchandise Flying Off Shelves
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)- Die-hard fans and those now on the bandwagon are eager to purchase Giants merchandise as the home team heads to the World Series.
At the Giants Dugout Store at AT&T Park the line was 15 deep for the cash register, and at a smaller store at Embarcadero Center a black velvet rope let would-be buyers of Giants merchandise line up around the corner to be let into the store.
KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:
"We're doing a thing at work for the next couple of days where you can dress casually as long as you wear Giants memorabilia," said one woman. "But I'm going to make sure that whatever I buy is souvenir-like to take home to my husband."
There are Giants rulers, Brian Wilson bobbleheads, and giant, orange #1 fingers. The championship clothing is especially hot, and eager fans are snapping it up.
"I'm getting a hat, and we're going to buy a shirt for our boss, who just gave us tickets to the World Series," said another woman.
"You want to have something that helps remind you of this year, so it has to say World Series on it, because you never know when it will happen again," said a man in line.
A World Series fitted hat costs $36, and an authentic jersey with a World Series patch will set you back $215.
While new merchandise is set to arrive, many were sold out.
