German Shepherd, Pit Bull Attack San Jose Mail Carrier
SAN JOSE (BCN) -- A letter carrier was attacked by two dogs in San Jose Wednesday morning, a postal service spokesman said.
The attack happened around 10:45 a.m. at a home in the 5000 block of Camden Avenue, spokesman Gus Ruiz said.
Both police and firefighters responded, as well as animal control officers, who eventually took a pit bull and German Shepard into custody, Ruiz said.
The letter carrier was Yuan Hu, a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service.
Ruiz said the dogs broke through a gate in the front yard and attacked Hu as he was dropping off mail. Hu ran in between cars in an attempt to escape the dogs, but they chased him down the street and attacked him, Ruiz said.
He suffered bite wounds on his forearms and was transported to O'Connor Hospital, Ruiz said. He has since been treated and released, but remains "traumatized," Ruiz said.
