Geico Banner Ad Falls From Plane, Lands On Fremont Home
FREMONT (CBS/AP) — An advertising banner touting Geico insurance fell from a plane towing it over Fremont on Monday, striking power lines and landing on a home.
The San Jose Mercury News reports nobody was hurt. The 45-foot-by-90-foot banner covered most of the house and damaged a backyard gazebo.
Pacific Gas and Electric workers cut off power to the area so firefighters could safely pull the sign down.
The pilot of the plane says he was trying out a new rope that failed to hold the banner. He apologized to the homeowner.
The pilot was not cited.
KNTV says the FAA is investigating the incident.
