Gay Couple Will Be 1st To Get Married Atop Rose Parade Float
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) -- The men who plan to become the first gay couple married on a Rose Parade float say they're too busy planning their wedding to think much about a proposed parade boycott.
But Aubrey Loots and Danny Leclair added Monday that they hope the boycott organized by a woman who calls the nuptials a slap in the face to opponents of same-sex unions will spur more conversation about the issue.
The couple, together 12 years, plan to exchange vows on New Year's morning atop a giant wedding cake on the AIDS Healthcare Foundation float.
Sharon Grube of San Diego has appeared on TV and the Internet while promoting her "Boycott The 2014 Rose Parade" effort.
Parade officials say the float is in keeping with this year's theme, "Dreams Come True."
