Gas Main Capped After Caltrain Construction Crew Severs San Bruno Pipe
SAN BRUNO (CBS/AP) -- Workers have capped a gas leak in San Bruno that shut down commuter train service in two directions.
Construction crews working on a Caltrain-related project broke a gas main in suburban San Bruno around 9 p.m. Sunday.
The leak was stopped before dawn Monday.
"What we're doing at this point in the project is lowering the street underneath the crossing. So at some point during that process during the construction, they accidently hit a gas line so we were advised by PG&E to stop train service at that time," said Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.
PG&E crews were working on a permanent repairs early Monday morning.
No injuries or evacuations were reported.
Dunn said that passengers on three trains were shuttled past the gas leak by bus to Millbrae to board a southbound train, while northbound passengers were able to board a Bay Area Rapid Transit train.

The leak was about four miles away from where a gas main exploded in a residential area in 2010, killing 8 people.
