Townsend Street Reopens After Gas Leak In San Francisco's SoMa
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A gas leak in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood Wednesday afternoon temporarily shut down Townsend Street, fire officials said.
The fire department posted on Twitter at 12:58 p.m. about the leak on a 3-inch line at a construction site at 510 Townsend.
Initially, authorities blocked off Townsend on the 500 block in both directions. San Francisco Fire later tweeted that the street would be closed for approximately 30 minutes between 5th and 7th streets as PG&E crews worked to close the leak.
Authorities said the gas leak was resolved as of 1:39 p.m. No evacuation or shelter-in-place orders were given as a result of the leak.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and expect delays during the closure.
