Gas Leak Capped After Shelter-In-Place Order In Brentwood

BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) - A gas leak that prompted a shelter-in-place order in a Brentwood neighborhood Tuesday afternoon has been contained and the order lifted, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman.

Contra Costa and East Contra Costa fire crews responded to reports of a leak around 12:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Lone Tree Way, fire spokesman Robert Marshall said.

A construction crew that had been digging in the area ruptured a 4-inch gas line, prompting a shelter-in-place order for nearby buildings, he said.

PG&E crews arrived at the scene shortly before 1 p.m. and were able to contain the leak around 2:50 p.m., Marshall said.

The shelter-in-place order has been lifted and no injuries were reported.
