Garbage Truck Overturns On Hwy. 101 In San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / BCN) -- Three lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose were closed Monday evening when a garbage truck overturned, leaking about 100 gallons of oil onto the roadway, a San Jose fire captain said.
The driver of a California Waste Solutions truck lost control on a turn around 5:25 p.m. at the interchange of Interstate 880, Capt. Chuck Rangel said.
Around 5:45 p.m., responding crews realized the truck was leaking hydraulic oil and crank oil, Rangel said.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, he said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
All lanes of southbound Highway 101 reopened around 8:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
