Fugitive Brothers Sought In Fatal San Jose Stabbing Arrested In Utah
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (CBS SF) - Two brothers sought in connection with a fatal stabbing in San Jose last month have been arrested in Utah, according to authorities.
23-year-old Brian Bess and 20-year-old Jonathan Bess were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Salt Lake City after a bicycle officer recognized them from fugitive photos, police said.
The officer approached them and arrested them without incident.
The two brothers were being sought following the stabbing death of a 51-year-old man which led to police standoff at a house on the 200 block of Cleveland Avenue in San Jose on April 27.
Residents of the home reported the stabbing, and one resident was initially cooperative with police. The standoff developed after another resident became uncooperative and locked himself into a room, police said.
Officers called in a SWAT team after learning there might be firearms in the house. Investigators believe Jonathan Bess and Brian Bess committed the homicide, and then fled the scene before police arrived.
The two were booked into the Salt Lake County jail Wednesday evening and were awaiting extradtion to San Jose.
