From 'Hella Tight,' 'Sick,' To 'Atrocious' - How The 49ers' Black And Red Uniforms Looked On Social Media

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- From the street corners to the water coolers -- everyone is talking about the 49ers' new uniforms. It was quite a stunner to see the former red and gold boys all decked out in black and red Monday night when they took on the Vikings.

There have been studies about the psychology of black uniforms in professional sports. Teams who wear black are often perceived as bad guys, and even rack up more penalties.

"When the uniform is that of a football or hockey player...part of what one becomes involves toughness, aggressiveness and machismo," wrote the authors of a study at Cornell University.

The comments on social media ran the gamut, although it was hard to hate on them since they crushed Minnesota with 20-to-3 win.
