Friends, YouTube, God's Love: What People On Facebook Are Most Thankful For
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the analytics team at Facebook is sharing what people around the country are most thankful for.
The team collected anonymous data from status updates where friends challenge another to "write three things you are thankful for over the next five days."
Friends showed up as the number one thing people on Facebook are most grateful for, followed by family, health and a job.
Facebook also looked at what topics are most distinctive for each state. In California, "YouTube"was a popular result and varied from "God's Love" in Alabama, "Electricity" in Michigan and "Yoga" in Oregon. Weather was also a popular topic ranging from "the rain" in the southern states to "thunderstorms" in the Midwest.
An interesting note, Facebook found that over 90 percent of the people who participated in this challenge were women. Although a number of explanations are possible, Facebook said woman may be more likely to participate in these kinds of challenges and nominate other woman than men.
"To be clear, we think it is unlikely that women are actually more grateful than men," the team wrote in the report.
