Shooting at Fremont home leaves 1 person dead

A shooting at a home in Fremont left one person dead and multiple suspects detained, according to police.

The Fremont Police Department said the dispatchers received reports of a shooting at about 12:13 p.m. on San Pedro Drive between Nicolet Avenue and Frobisher Drive adjacent to Interstate Highway 880 in Fremont's Cabrillo neighborhood. 

Multiple police and fire department vehicles along an ambulance were seen in front of a home on San Pedro Drive at Baffin Avenue. In a press release, the department said officers arrived to find a male victim who had been shot. Officers provided first aid before medics took him to a local trauma center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Additional officers responded and detained fleeing suspects in the area who were taken into custody without incident, according to police. The department did not provide details on how many suspects were arrested or additional circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police added that there was no immediate threat to the community or any outstanding suspects at this time. 

It was the third homicide in Fremont this year.
