Freeway Shooting Shuts Down I-280 In S.F. for Several Hours
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Investigators are looking for suspects in a shooting that injured three people early Monday morning on southbound Interstate 280 in San Francisco, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shots were fired at a black Cadillac Escalade near Alemany Boulevard shortly before 3 a.m.
Three of the five people in the vehicle were injured in the shooting but all are expected to survive their injuries, according to CHP officer Vu Williams.
The victims transported themselves to San Francisco General Hospital.
Investigators believe the shots were fired from another vehicle on the highway but do not have a description of it at this time.
"The victims all say they saw nothing," Williams said, noting that it is "impossible to say" at this point if the victims were targeted or if the shooting was random.
Southbound traffic was closed as a result of the shooting and reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
