Frank Gore Thanks 49ers, Fans For Support During 10-Year Career In San Francisco
(CBS SF) -- Former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore, a fan favorite and the franchise's all-time leader in a number of rushing categories, has released a statement thanking the team and 49er fans for their support.
Last week, the unrestricted free agent signed a three-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts to be their featured running back.
Monday, Gore issued the following statement:
"As I look forward to an exciting new opportunity, I cannot help but to reminisce about the past 10 years in the Bay Area. I would like to, once again, thank the York family and the 49ers organization for giving me the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of playing in the NFL. I am truly thankful to all of my 49ers teammates, coaches and staff that have helped me reach milestones and strive for greatness over the years. And to my fans: I do not know where to start, there are no words to describe how appreciative I am of the support and encouragement each and every one of you has provided. I will always carry you with me. Thank you for everything."
Monday's statement reiterated a similar statement Gore issued on his Instagram account the day after he signed with Indianapolis.
On Friday, Gore's new team was named as a favorite to win Super Bowl 50, to be played at the 49ers home Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
