Former 49ers Star Frank Gore Changes Course, Elects To Sign With Indianapolis Colts
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Frank Gore, the San Francisco 49ers all-time rushing leader, has joined the Indianapolis Colts after initially appearing as if he was headed to Philadelphia.
Indianapolis announced Tuesday the team had agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent running back, three days after it was reported he would join the Eagles to replace the departed LeSean McCoy.
The deal with the Colts is reportedly for three years and $12 million, with $8.5 million guaranteed.
Gore comes to Indianapolis after a 10-year career with the 49ers which included five Pro Bowl appearances and eight 1,000-yard seasons. He is the 49ers all-time leader in career rushing attempts (2,442), yards (11,073), touchdowns (64), and 100-yard games (38).
Gore is also the 11th player in NFL history to have at least eight 1,000 yard seasons and is second among active NFL players in rushing attempts and yards.
News of Gore's signing by Indianapolis comes on the same day another team leader, star linebacker Patrick Willis, announced his retirement.

Aside from Gore and Willis, the 49ers also lost free agent Pro Bowl guard Mike Iupati to division rival Arizona, and appear likely to lose free agents Michael Crabtree, Chris Culliver, and Dan Skuta, and defensive stalwart Justin Smith, who has been hinting at retirement.
