Four-Alarm Fire Destroys Santa Rosa Warehouse
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A four-alarm fire swept through a book store warehouse early Wednesday, heavily damaging the building filled with books, furniture and several vehicles, authorities said.
Santa Rosa fire officials said they got a call around 2:08 a.m. reporting the blaze at the warehouse at 737 Wilson St. in the Railroad Square section of Santa Rosa.
Structure serves as a warehouse for Copperfield's Books Inc. and other businesses and individuals.
Heavily smoke and flames greeted arriving firefighters as the blaze grew to four alarms and drew a response from not only the Santa Rosa Fire Department but also units from surrounding communities.
Crews got the fire under control at about 3:50 a.m. No injuries have been reported and the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Assistant fire marshal Paul Lowenthal said personnel from the city's public works department were on the scene with backhoes and tractors to break apart a large amount of debris from the fire.
