Former CoCo Times Reporter Dies While Snorkling In Hawaii
WAILUKU (CBS/AP) -- A spokesman for the California Department and Fish and Wildlife died over the weekend while snorkeling in Hawaii.
Fifty-year-old Michael Taugher was found unresponsive in the water. Lifeguards, firefighters and paramedics on Saturday tried to revive Taugher of Benicia.
Taugher had been snorkeling with family members when he went missing.
Police spokesman William Juan said no foul play is suspected.
Taugher reported for the Contra Costa Times from 2000 to 2012. Gov. Jerry Brown appointed him as the assistant deputy director of communications, education and outreach for CDFW in May 2012.
Taugher also worked for the Albuquerque Journal, the Greeley Tribune and two papers at Lake Tahoe before joining the Times.
