Foodie Chap With Winemaker Hoss Milone of Coro Mendocino
KCBS radio "Foodie Chap" and KPIX 5 television "Eye On The Bay" host Liam Mayclem introduces us to the culinary stars behind the food and wine loved by so many in the Bay Area.
About Hoss Milone:
Hoss started his wine career at the age of five working on the Milone Family ranches, vineyards, and orchards in Hopland, California. In 1977, his family started Milano Winery where he split his time between farming and winemaking. In 1983, he became the assistant winemaker.
In 1990, Hoss ventured to Australia for a harvest in southern Victoria for White Gate Vineyards to learn new techniques and technologies.
In 1991, he went to work for an old friend and winemaker George Bursick at Ferrari‐Carano Vineyards & Winery for 18 years where together they tripled the size of the winery. Hoss returned home with the Brutocao family in 2009 and assumed the head winemaker role.
Hoss is a fourth generation Hoplander and winemaker who is married to his beautiful wife, Beverlie and has two wonderful daughters, K.T. and Ally. Hoss loves all things outdoors especially fishing and watching his girls play soccer.
I am thrilled to be joining Hoss for the Coro Mendocino 2012 Release Party. It's on Friday June 19th at Wineworks in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood. The four course meal will be paired with the 2012 CORO wines. The extra bonus is that attendees will be the first to enjoy the new vintage. Plus each couple will be sent home with 8 bottles of Coro Mendocino vino. Tickets are $350 each.
Hoss and I met recently at the Wineworks venue to get an early taste of the new CORO wines. We talked vino and the coming together of an entire wine community to produce this much celebrated and sought after Coro Mendocino wine.

Bright red fruit (raspberry, plum and blue berry) with allspice and Christmas spice rich entry silky mouthfeel supple tannins, big mid with all the fruit prevailing throughout, great long finish with spice and fruit.
