Fleeing Driver Crashes Into Oakland Liquor Store
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - An Oakland resident was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into an Oakland liquor store Sunday night, a San Leandro police lieutenant said.
San Leandro police near the San Leandro-Oakland border attempted to stop a vehicle near 105th and Edes avenues in Oakland around 11:15 p.m. for a traffic violation, Lt. Randall Brandt said.
Police later identified the driver as 31-year-old Jermaine Robinson.
Robinson allegedly drove off speeding and police chased after him, police said. He collided into another vehicle a few blocks away at 98th and Edes avenues before crashing into a corner liquor store, Brandt said.
Brookfield Discount Liquor is listed at that intersection.
One person in the car that Robinson struck was injured and taken to the hospital. The police vehicle was not involved in the collision, and no officers were hurt, he said.
Robinson was arrested on suspicion of evading police and possessing burglary tools, according to jail records.
He is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on $155,000.
According to jail records, he is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Hayward Hall of Justice.
