Fireworks Spark At Least 5 Of 37 Fires Reported In Contra Costa County On Fourth Of July
MARTINEZ (CBS SF) - Fire crews in Contra Costa County responded to dozens of fires, at least some sparked by Fourth of July fireworks through the night and into Friday.
Thirty-seven fires were reported in a span of just six hours.
The fires were quickly put out because extra crews were brought on to work the holiday.
"Thanks to preparation and rapid, overwhelming responses, none turned into disasters tonight," the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District tweeted.
